Review: Dal Dak is definitely the most put together chicken cup we've visited. It appears to be brand new with it's vibrant exterior and clean interior. Yes, you can go inside to eat your cup. Also, this chicken cup comes in a branded, faux take-away container.

Dal Dak offers two cups--honey and spicy--at 2,000 won each. Us foreigners were given the honey by default when we ordered. We waited an obscene 15 minutes for our cups. While it was very fresh, we prefer a half warm cup to waiting that long. Rob nearly went into diabetic shock.

The chicken is fresh and soft, with a crumbly-crisp coating. It resembles a fast-food chicken strip, but smaller. Each cup has equal parts chicken and soft teok (chewy rice cake), with six pieces of teok to be precise. The teok had a slightly off-putting flavor. Both cups go light on the sauce. The honey cup has a brown sugar sweetness, heavy cinnamon flavor and a faint peppery or red hot spiciness. The spicy cup's sauce is unique. Maybe too unique. It has a teokboki flavor but with more sweetness and the stickiness you expect from a chicken cup.

When should you go here? When you want teokboki flavor but with the satisfaction of a chicken cup. Or just to have a killer honey cup.

Directions: See the map. Traveling from Lotte Cinema, pass the BYC/Brauhaus building. Take a right where you would usually take a left to Joongang Market. It's a short distance up, on the right hand side.

리 뷰: 달닭은 우리가 가본 곳 중에 가장 잘 어우러진 컵닭을 만드는 곳입니다. 이곳의 선명한 외관과 깔끔한 내부를 봐서 새로 생긴 곳 같습니다. 네 맞아요, 여긴 가게 안에서 컵닭을 먹을 수 있습니다. 그리고, 이 컵닭은 유명상표의 짜가 테이크아웃 박스에 담겨서 나옵니다.

달닭은 꿀맛(honey)과 매운맛 두가지의 컵을 각각 2000원에 판매하고 있습니다. 우리 외국인들이 주문했을 때, 꿀맛을 기본으로 받았습니다. 우린 이 컵닭을 위해 무려 15분씩이나 기다렸습니다. 컵닭은 굉장히 신선했지만 우린 그렇게 오래 기다리느니 차라리 반쯤 데워진 컵닭을 더 선호합니다.. Rob은 거의 당뇨성 혼수상태에 빠져들뻔했습니다.

치킨은 바삭바삭한 튀김옷과 함께 신선하고 부드러웠습니다. 이건 패스트푸드인 닭꼬치와 비슷했는데 더 작았어요. 각각의 컵에는 같은 크기와 파트의 치킨과 정확히 6개의 부드러운 떡이 들어있어요. 떡은 좀 정이 안가는 맛이었어요. 두 컵 다 소스는 가볍게 발라져 있었습니다. 꿀맛 컵닭은 황설탕의 단맛과 강한 계피향, 그리고 은은한 후추 혹은 고추가루 맛이 납니다. 매운맛의 소스는 특이합니다. 어쩌면 너무 특이할지도.. 매운맛 컵닭은 떡볶이 맛이 나지만 보통 컵닭에서 볼 수 있는 것 처럼 좀 더 달고 끈적끈적합니다.

여긴 언제 가야할까요? 여러분이 떡볶이가 먹고싶으면서 컵닭의 만족감을 느끼고 싶을 때. 이게 아니면 그냥 끝내주는 꿀맛 컵닭을 드세요.
